1: Someone who acts suspicious, unpredictable and odd in normal situations. Someone who lacks common sense and is overly secretive. Usually someone who has used a high volume of Valium.

1: creepy, iffy, fairly unsafe, an air of uncertainty, not kosher, and just generally something or someone that you don't want to be associated with (or really do want to be associated with, depending on who you are...)

  * e.g.,  ...  That guy staring at me is really sketchy.

1: When someone lands a trick skateboarding, but he has to do a whole lot of maneuvering to stay on the board.

1: Of dubious nature; having questionable worth or character.

  * e.g.,  ... I don't think he should drive. His car is too sketchy.

2:  Something that seems hastily detailed, missing a few important parts. The result is something that hints at a full figure, but leads to uncertainty as to how it could fully be developed.

  * e.g.,  ... b. That guy looks kinda sketchy; I can kinda tell he's tall, but I can't see much of his face because of his posture.

3:  Seeming untrustworthy, or of dubious and indiscernible motive. This can be used to describe people that are difficult to be understood yet still have a layer of rationality that people can feel, but can't predict.

  * e.g.,  ... a. John is sketchy: he looked at me in an awkward way when giving me a pick-up line. I'm not sure if he's got a weird sense of humor to make fun of his pick-up line, or if he's a rapist.

4:  A feeling to describe a situation where you feel physical or sexual danger/unease. This results from feelings of uncertainty when you are talking with someone who is telling you that he/she is intending to act genuinely, but his/her actions do not reinforce this, and seem to reinforce the feelings of danger.

  * e.g.,  ... b. Alice is sketchy, because she always has a constant, strange grin on her face and opens her eyes wider when she jokes about sex with me.

1: This expression was first coined in reference to hastily drawn out, or sketched, building/construction plans, which were uncertain at best and disastrous at worst. The overall thread of meaning is the same, but now applies to morality/legality. On the overall continuim of goodness, things progress, in order: safe, sketchy, shady, outright criminal.

  * e.g.,  ... Getting wasted and gambling away half your paycheck in Nevada may be legal, but its definitely sketchy.

2: Noun-Sketchball- A person who has taken too much Extacy who cannot make safe decisions and is no longer reliable or trustworthy; A shady character

1: An adjective used to describe anything questionable or foreign in relation to one's comfort zone. Commonly used by teenagers in a-town to describe other people they find shady. Not to be confused with sketch, the form of the word used by many teens in McLean.

1: Acting in a manner that is erratic, unpredictable, or untrustworthy; accompanied by paranoia, nervousness, and fidgeting - usually associated with meth users.
