1: A quality seriously lacking in today's society

  * e.g.,  ... Respect? What the hell does that mean?

1: To treat people in the manner in which you expect to be treated. To show consideration for another person's feelings and interests. An attitude demonstrating that you value another person. You should treat your friends with respect.

  * e.g.,  ... That guy showed a total lack of respect when he cancelled our Friday night plans at the last minute! 

 [ "respect" ]

1: Something your parents tell you has to be earned, not demanded. Then they turn right around and demand it.

  * e.g.,  ... "You can't just demand respect. You have to earn it."

1: Something everyone expects, but has no willingness to show.

  * e.g.,  ... I ain't no bitch, How 'bout some Mother fucking respect. 

 [ "respect" ]

1: A formal expression of proper acceptance. The courtesy to show high regard, consideration or honor. A gesture of greeting, esteem, or friendship.

  * e.g.,  ... Now you come and say "Don Corleone, give me justice." But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me "Godfather." You come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married and you ask me to do murder - for money.

1: to show regards to another with acknowledgement,politeness,and consideration

  * e.g.,  ... How can you not respect somebody for handling their business? 

 [ "respect" ]

1: a privilege you give to someone based upon the quality of that person's unique interactions with you. Respect is earned. Elders just have had more time to earn it. Younger people may also earn respect from older people. Some respect sound judgement, some strength or power. Some respect altruism, some purposefulness. Parents and teachers may provide initial guidance but what you respect in a person is ultimately your privilege.

  * e.g.,  ... I respect him for his sound judgement in difficult situations.

1: Not to be confused with fear which it often is.

  * e.g.,  ... I respect my kung fu teacher he is the toughest muthafucka I have ever met and could take on ( and even kill is he so wished ) many people at once but he only uses his skills for self defence and the defence of others, never for attack, he has great power but is responsible with that power and I respect him for that. 

 [ "respect" ]

1: their is no one true definition to respect. Respect is something you feel. This feeling helps you know who you should respect in life and knowing who to respect in life is one of the greatest accomplishment you can have. If you respect the right people they will help you become a better person but to achieve this you have to boost whoever you respect's self esteem to make them feel awesome, which is no problem in the first place because you respect them.

  * e.g.,  ... remember to respect in life and life will respect you.

1: A word synonymous with acknowledgment, recognition, and consideration.

  * e.g.,  ... "Respect me for me," or "Respect my authority," both of which are demands for acknowledgment, recognition, consideration.
