1: A word commonly thrown around in the video games industry by people who have no idea what real life is actually like, especially in FPSs. Occasionally combined with false claims of military or police service.

  * e.g.,  ... "zomg call of duty 4 has unparalleled realism! i can tell b/c i no so much about combat!"

1: An artwork, usually in a digital form that depicts a scene which is hard to discern if is real or not.

  * e.g.,  ... There are a lot of artists online that you can goggle for, but one that comes to mind is some of the realism work by Josh DeHaan.

1: Form of art or literature where sumthin is "real"; Expressing realistic emotions or actions

  * e.g.,  ... In his essay about realism, the girl killed herself after learning her evil step-father.

1:  A form of art in which objects (usually people) are depicted as they would in everyday life with little or no exaggeration.

  * e.g.,  ... Realism is not the basics to art. It's just a style.

2:  A highly oppressive and difficult "rule" that ALL artists must follow if they want to be considered an artist. This is just a style -- it is not the ultimate rule of art nor is it God. Lots of artists think this is the only way to learn or get better at drawing. However, it is not. There are other ways to learn and get better. A lot of artists often deny this, and see the absence of knowledge for realism as inexcuseable. They will also condemn you for it and note you as ignorant, immature, stupid, and/or an "anime kid".

1: A political theory of sensualism that is bounded on the material side by synthetic Marxism and on the metaphysical side by synthetic fascism. The fourth (and last) theory of politics that involves human will or effection. Precedes meta-realism, metamodernism, or meta-consciousness. Also known as 'synthetic realism'. Technologically distinguished by constructivist (conscious) materialism.

1: Realism Overhaul (R.O) is a mod pack for KSP that is supposed to make the game more realistic.

  * e.g.,  ... Man,i love Realism Overhaul but it just loads so slow. 

 [ "Kmart realism" ]

1: A minimalist style of writing often used in short fiction. It usually features depressed middle class working people in bleak settings. The term "Kmart realism" was originally meant to be insulting. Authors include Tao Lin, Chris Killen, Joy Williams, Ann Beattie, Frederick Barthelme, and (to a lesser extent) Sam Pink.

  * e.g.,  ... "Sometimes when dolphins went to playgrounds alone they did the monkeybars and went to the swings and on the swings thought, "I hate this stupid world." They thought, "I hate it." They cried a little with the wind against their face. They felt so bad that they went away. And found Elijah Wood and told Elijah Wood to go with them and Elijah Wood went--because he thought it was a movie. Elijah Wood and other celebrities like Salman Rushdie rode dolphins in rivers. Salman Rushdie felt proud and famous. And the dolphins swam to islands and beat Elijah Wood and the other famous people with heavy branches. They cried when they murdered human beings, and it was terrible. One dolphin had a battle axe and killed Wong Kar-Wai." Tao Lin, a writer of "Kmart realism".

1: A style of painting that applies photorealism to urban images.

  * e.g.,  ... I loved that Ur-realism art show, especially the images of Tiajuana bars with hookers standing outside.
