1: An ironic statement that means avoid ambiguity and adopt clarity. It's ironic because it is hypocritical.

  * e.g.,  ... Instead of saying eschew obfuscation, espouse elucidation, Mary just told us to avoid confusion and be clear. 

 [ "eschew pablum" ]

1: A choice to engage with ideas and information that are challenging, complex, and meaningful, rather than settling for what's easy or superficial.

  * e.g.,  ... Rather than support the weak and poorly developed political effort, Pablo chose to eschew pablum. 

 [ "eschewing gum" ]

1: Spongy sticky stuff that you munch ad nauseam in order to help you avoid some unwise habit or procedure. Nicorette comes to mind as an example.

  * e.g.,  ... Violette Beauregard had a gum-chewing obsession; I suppose that there is a special gum to help someone with that addiction, but what good would chewing gum-eschewing gum do to sure your gum-chewing addition if it means that you're still chewing gum???
