 [ "vaginal dissonance" ]

1: (n) - An unstable combination of women that increases ambient bitchiness. This can occur when the natural vibrating frequencies emitted from one woman's vagina interfere with those of another, causing an unappealing positive feedback (aka vagitation) that attenuates the mood of all women contributing to the dissonance. The intensity of vaginal dissonance is directly proportional to 1) the average distance between each vagina, and 2) the average amplitude of emitted vaginal frequencies, which can vary dramatically between women. It is believed that most documented cases of PMS are actually mistaken episodes of vaginal dissonance.

 [ "cognitive dissonance" ]

1: An example of somebody displaying cognitively dissonant behaviour would be a situation where the persons views, values, beliefs etc are contradicted or opposed by one or other persons causing them mental (psychological) stress. At this point a state of cognition is triggered effectively causing them to refute, reject &/or miss-perceive the contradictory views, values or beliefs.

  * e.g.,  ... "smoking will most likely cause you to have cancer you know?" "hmmm I'm not so sure I know people who have smoked all their lives and they're fine, plus I enjoy it anyway.." this is cognitive dissonance 

 [ "Scavonian Dissonance" ]

1: A description for when the text (or writer) of a story actively asserts facts of character or circumstance that are, in actuality, false to majority of audience members.

  * e.g.,  ... "I'm really confused by this tv show" - "Why" - "We're supposed to believe he's a nice guy but he's treating his wife like shit. The scavonian dissonance is giving me a migraine!"
