1: A desi who makes special efforts to distance him/herself from other desis and tries too hard to fit with the US culture

  * e.g.,  ... Ameya: Dude, Balakrishna is so desist. He pretends to love Carrie Underwood, claims that he hates cricket and is going to change his name from Balakrishna Chinnaswamy to Bob Green.

1: A desi who hates other desis for being a desi. A desi racist against other desi's.

  * e.g.,  ... Prasoon is such a fucking desist, listenig to heavy metal trash and dreaming of marrying an american hottie. 

 [ "cease and desist" ]

1: when a large corporation contacts you with the direct instructions to stop doing something and not do it again. generally because they have legal rights to object you are copying or distributing.

  * e.g.,  ... letters sent to suprnova.org and many other bit torrent sites hosting torrents of copyrighted material. 

 [ "cease and desist" ]

1: A legal term literally meaning, "stop what(ever) your doing and don't do it again." Hence, "cease" meaning to "stop," and "desist" meaning to "not do again in the future." Usually used by a person or party against another person or party when they are doing something that they find: offensive, strange, violating, embarrassing, shady, etc.

  * e.g.,  ... cease and desist cease & desist back off stop cease desist legal 

 [ "Cease and Desist" ]

1: I mean, you'd think I would have gotten one of these... Right? Like, if what I've done here was so horrible someone would have taken legal action and I would have gotten something in the mail or an email or something... Right? Like... Is that not a strange thing?

  * e.g.,  ... Hym "I mean, you'd think I would have gotten a cease and desist or something, right? I mean, can you imagine a guy DOING THIS and the just... nothing? NOTHING happens!? Why is that the case!? Really! I mean, the quality of television and movies radically improved but that's like THE OPPOSITE of what you'd think would happen, isn't it? How am I the only one baffled here? Imagine explain this to someone. What is the first question they would ask? You go into detail about everything I've done and what do you think they would ask? 'Well, what happened?' NOTHING! NOTHING HAPPENED. Well, nothing that wasn't ALREADY HAPPENING. And then they would give you some confused look and you'd be all 'Yeah, crazy right?' I do see how this is a thing that is happening and the fact that the people around me are in no way amenable to reason is something that should be disconcerting to everyone.:

  * e.g.,  ... Disney, Nintendo, and other companies do a Siege and Desist to summon warriors to kill pirates and take their "booty".
