 [ "Condemnation Cough" ]

1: This is the fake cough that non-smokers give to someone smoking, even in an outdoor setting. It is generally characterized by one dry cough and accompanied by a dirty look.

  * e.g.,  ... Fred: Hey, I think Mike is getting sick. I was outside smoking, and he walked past me coughing. Bill: Naw, man, that's just a condemnation cough.

1: A figure of speech, commonly used by political figures, to express discontent over an issue. It is often followed by little to no action to address the matter.

  * e.g.,  ... Human Rights Organizations: We strongly condemn acts of human rights violation taking place in China's autonomous regions.

2: Essentially "we are not happy, but are powerless to do anything about it"

  * e.g.,  ... China: We strongly condemn your false accusation and intervention on China's own political matters. "Help! I can't swim!"

  * e.g.,  ... Before Lucy makes too big of a blanket condemnation of Linus's fabric-related "affliction", perhaps she should run a quick reality-check on her OWN life and see how many insecurities that SHE HERSELF has... she merely reacts to them in a different (and often far-more-upsetting/destructive!) way, such as screaming,. punching,. kicking things, etc., but she has said sensitivities all the same.

1: Lost one's faith. Stopped believing in God. Became agnostic, atheist, or pagan.

  * e.g.,  ... I was condemned to eternal damnation when I was fourteen years old, after realizing the Christian narrative simply doesn't make sense. I didn't tell my mom for two years.

1: Hamas is the de facto governing entity of the Gaza Strip, Occupied Palestine. Hamas is considered a terrorist organisation in part (Al Qassam Brigades) or in full by a handful of Western countries. Following the Oct 7 attacks in southern Israel, Western media outlets have repeatedly asked their guests on air this question to make them explicitly express their opinions on Hamas. This has been used so often that it becomes a way of greetings just like “how are you?”
