1: An over-glorification of a school symphony band and/or marching band. Often frowned upon, generally disliked or absolutely hated by anyone that is not a part of the band because of the band members' air of superiority, weirdness, and overall annoyingness.

  * e.g.,  ... Guy 1: Dude, I hate those band geeks. They're so goddamn annoying. Guy 2: Yeah, seriously. Our school is a total symphonism. 

 [ "symphonic metal" ]

1: Simply the best subgenre of metal out there. Combines the distorted guitars and powerful drums of metal with the beautiful symphonic sound of classical orchestra instruments, such as violins, pianos, cellos, etc.

  * e.g.,  ... Some great symphonic metal bands include: Rhapsody of Fire, Therion, Symphony X, Nightwish, Kamelot, Angra, and more

1: The best kind of metal there is out there. It's got the hardcore drums and guitars of heavy metal, but most of the time beautiful symphonies (like in classical music) are added, mainly by instruments such as acoustic guitar, piano, keyboard, violin. In other words, a brilliant work of art.

  * e.g.,  ... Some good symphonic metal bands are Within Temptation, Epica, Delain, Nightwish, Otep, Leaves' Eyes, and Tristania.

1: A great genre of music thats so much better than that poor shitty gcyb genre. Symphonic metal is metal with orchestral backgrounds. Symphonic metal bands include Rhapsody and Lucca Turili.

  * e.g.,  ... I was listening to a stupid Slipknot song and than my friend showed me a symphonic metal song by Rhapsody and i was like, "Dang schmurrt, me no listen to shitty gcyb no more."

1: A symphonic band is simply a band for smarter and more advanced musicians. People who were put in a concert band are rejects that didn't make the symphonic band.

  * e.g.,  ... The symphonic band has much more advanced music, for much more advanced musicians. 

 [ "symphonic metal" ]

1: A castrated version of metal that uses orchestra sounds to back up the fact that they can't come up with a good guitar riff.

  * e.g.,  ... Good example symphonic metal band would be Epica. Where's the balls? Where's the soul? All those guys do is chug all day. On a side note, though, I'd totally do their singer. 

 [ "Symphonic Black Metal" ]

1: Symphonic Black Metal is essentially the Black Metal equivalent of Melodic Death Metal, only (as the name states) is more related to a symphony. Symphonic Black Metal uses Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboards, and on occasions Symphony instruments such as Violins, Cellos, etc.

  * e.g.,  ... Dimmu Borgir is my favorite Symphonic Black Metal band.
