2:  A formal dance that turns into a massive grindfest (or in extreme cases, it may turn into a massive orgy).

1: A gathering of friends to get blitzed, ripped or completely torn up.

  * e.g.,  ... Hey guys let's have a soiree at Lindy's. 

 [ "midday soiree" ]

1: Pretentious, translation-challenged oxymoron that mistakes the meaning of the French word "soirée" to be "party" instead of "evening." Refers to a meetup of haughty people probably in a yatch eating cucumber sandwiches and wearing breeches.

  * e.g.,  ... We look forward to a midday soiree of great company, intriguing conversation, tasty cocktails, and assorted entertainment at The Manor. 

 [ "internet soiree" ]

1: An internet party but with classier beverages, such as mixed drinks and wine.

  * e.g.,  ... "thi8s nheternet soiree is totally snweet." 

 [ "RA Soiree" ]

1: When the RA's party together, it is called an RA Soiree. Also, in some cases, if a previously established, non-RA related party consists of over 50% RA's, the party becomes an RA Soiree. The location is usually the RA that happens to have the biggest room/ the room farthest away from the hall director - RA apartments are ideal. The soiree always goes hard because RA's are generally pretty overworked and can outdrink any other on-campus student worker. Also, where do you think all that confiscated booze goes?

  * e.g.,  ... There will be an RA Soiree tonight after the freshmen move out. Don't tell the Building Directors!! 

 [ "hump day soiree" ]

1: The first "party" of the weekend. Usually just a few frat guys and some chicks sitting around playing drinking games and getting wasted.

  * e.g.,  ... Delta Chi has the best hump day soiree's 

 [ "soiree" ]

1: An evening party.

  * e.g.,  ... We'll be going to a soiree across the street in about an hour.
