1: Large, dual carriageway road with special status (in UK, Ireland, Australia). International equivalents: Interstate, Autobahn, autostrada. No stopping, u-turns, etc. Maximum speed limit (in UK) 70mph/110kph. In practice the police leave you alone up to 100mph/160kph. No speed cameras are allowed on ordinary motorways (eg no roadworks, or otherwise reduced speed limits). Due to poor planning and low government spending on all transport, UK motorways are notoriously congested (the busiest stretch or road in Europe, the M6 through Birmingham, has only 3 lanes each way).

1: Where you pass another car and notice someone fit inside. Once passed you move back into the same lane and casually allow your speed to reduce, enough for them to then overtake. Once they complete the manoeuvre, you then retake said car. This is now a motorway dance and can continue to amuse both participants until you journeys diverge.

1: When you are driving at speed up a motorway, you open your windown fully , put your arm outside the window (fingers pointing the direction you are driving) and make a wave with your arm (like simulating a rolercoaster)

 [ "Motorway Disabled" ]

1: A very nervous driver who is unable to drive on a motorway, as doing so would make them have a panic attack.

  * e.g.,  ... I had to drive to fucking Carlisle for the family do because my brother and sister are fucking motorway disabled. 

 [ "Motorway Mate" ]

1: Also knows as a "Freeway Friend" (United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa) is a term used to describe a motorist directly in front/behind you who is on a similarly long journey on the same motorway/freeway, especially at night and when driving alone. Though you have never and are never likely to meet the person driving, you form a bond with them and can take comfort in the fact that you're not the only one driving hundreds of miles. Becoming more common now with the invent of Adaptive Cruise Control.

  * e.g.,  ... A somewhat sad feeling came over me when my Motorway Mate pulled off at the junction. I then felt like I was the only one on the M6 that night. Though I had been following my Freeway Friend for a while, he began slowing his pace so I put the foot down and overtook. I was following my Motorway Mate using my new Adaptive Cruise Control when he pulled off at the services, so had to resort back to normal Cruise Control.
