1: One who descends on a population to illegalize, demonize, and remove freedoms generally in the guise of safety or other concern.

  * e.g.,  ... Illiberals in New York consider wiffleball a dangerous sport and want to ban it to keep children safe. 

 [ "illiberal liberal" ]

1: Refers to left-of-center folks who post nasty comments about other Americans with whom they disagree. They also try to apply a lengthy litmus test to evaluate whether an American is a "real Democrat".

  * e.g.,  ... An illiberal liberal just tried to excommunicate me from the Democratic party, the party of diversity, because I suggested that some Democrats are pro-life. 

 [ "illiberalism" ]

1: The transition of a state (country) from a Liberal Democracy to an Illiberal Democracy, or a more authoritarian system that retains some semblance of democracy with less political tolerance and individual rights. Not to be confused with Fascism, where Liberal Democracy is replaced with an ethnic/racial supremacist and suicidally genocidal regime.

  * e.g.,  ... The current political developments removing political freedoms in Israel follow the trend of Illiberalism in countries politically dominated by far-right parties
