It is a fundamental personality trait that influences whether people set and keep long-range goals, deliberate over choices or behave impulsively, and take seriously obligations to others. Conscientiousness is a key ingredient in success, but the off-the-charts conscientious may court perfectionism by setting their sites too high. Conscientiousness distinguishes organized and hard working people from people who are more impulsive and spontaneous. Conscientiousness is a top predictor of job performance and success, but people low in Conscientiousness are good to have around when the plan does not work out and some quick thinking is necessary. You’d want to market to people by Conscientiousness differently: those high in Conscientiousness would take longer to make a purchasing decision and would want to compare with other products, those low in Conscientiousness would be more likely to make a snap decision.

1: The term for a person who refuses to participate in fighting a war due to religious/other beliefs.

  * e.g.,  ... An example of conscientious objectors are Quakers, or "Friends" as they are otherwise known, will not fight because of their philosophical beliefs. 

 [ "Conscientious Apathy" ]

1: The easy-going way of life. Blissful avoidance and ignornance of common organizations, movements, responsibilities, or anything that doesn't affect the follower. Someone who is a follower of Conscientious Apathy often won't care about a breakthrough in cancer research anymore than they would if they accidentally forgot to comb their hair that morning.

  * e.g.,  ... "I think it's great that the Lung Cancer Association is around, but I really could care less about it."

2: Though frowned upon by the 'go-getting' and influential type, a follower of Conscientious Apathy will often shrug off any criticism and live by the Conscientious Apathy code: "It's great that you care, I'm glad that you care, but, I don't care."

3: Someone who is a follower of Conscientious Apathy does not do it to be rude or harmful to others, the way of life is chosen to relieve stress and to find a more peaceful and pacifistic way to survive in times like these. It's controversy is ignored because no one who is a follower cares what others think about their way of life.

1: Doing something stupid while trying to do something good for the planet and society.

  * e.g.,  ... The woman demonstrated conscientious stupidity when she finished using the toilet and let the contents "mellow", cognizant of the drought. She then dropped her glasses in the toilet.

1: (n) A play on the term "Conscientious Objector," this term refers to an individual who has claimed the right to refuse to ingest anything that is derived from an animal, on the grounds of freedom of thought, conscience, or ethical principal. Vegan

  * e.g.,  ... "I am a Conscientious Ingester, or vegan for short, the most hated of the vegetarians and the sect that does not ingest, wear, or stand within 300 feet of products containing anything derived from an animal, dead or alive.

1: an individual's ability to substitute moral objection in place cowardice or fear inspired urination.

  * e.g.,  ... When confronted, John reacted with moral objection to cover his fear of public humiliation or show of cowardice. He is in fact a "conscientious coward". 

 [ "Environmentally conscientious" ]

1: An nonsense phrase that can be used to convince women that you are both smart and caring, implying that your DNA is suitable for procreation. Note: only works on Caucasian women

1: An asexual person, of any gender.
