1: To hound or pursue something or someone with a usually malicious intent. Derived from the use of a bird dog to hunt game. Apparently mistaken by millennials as a slang hybrid of 'bird' being female, and 'dogging' being the act of cuckolding or sharing of one's wife willingly or unwillingly, whilst obviously overlooking the actual normal every day meaning of the term to the point it irritated me to make a bloody account on here to set things straight. So upvote this definition so these low life tweens can at least use the term correctly.

1: (verb) To engage in the relentless pursuit of an objective or goal, often involving the accomplishment of tasks through other, less expedient people. This includes obsessive follow-up, nagging, and harrassment of individuals holding up the accomplishment of the goal. Comes from a reference to pointer dog breeds that serve as loyal hunting dogs, leading the way to the fallen fowl.

  * e.g.,  ... "I had to bird-dog Larry all day to get him to sign that damn contract."

1: In football, the expression used to describe when a quarterback stares down receivers before throwing to them. The term is used because a hunting dog will become fixated on the target bird and never take his eyes off of him. This is extremely frowned upon since it tips off the defenders and could result in horrible hits on your receivers.
