1: Getting better, actively rising above, coming in to your own, living large and getting larger.

1: The opposite of keepin it on the downlow or doing stuff that you don't want anyone to know.

  * e.g.,  ... I ain't got nothing to hide...it's all on the up and up. We together, he cool. 

 [ "up and up" ]

1: Said of outspoken, autocratic persons that profess to always be right and boast about how they 'told somebody off'.

  * e.g.,  ... I feel jaded after listening to her. She's always on the up and up.

1: In the know.

  * e.g.,  ... Fred: She don't know what's up. Ted: Yup, she ain't on the up and up. I'm good. 

 [ "up and up" ]

1: To be under the influence of any type of substance that will cause one to be spun out.

  * e.g.,  ... Shit...I was on the up and up for a minute after I did that eightball! 

 [ "heads up seven up" ]

1: A game used in elementary school where you always looked down on the floor for people's shoes to tell who picked your thumb.

  * e.g.,  ... heads up seven up at school 

 [ "fuck up move up" ]

1: An army term meaning promotion to a higher position after a senior employee screwed up an assignment. The rest of his career will be served with no more damage. Can be used by any large bureaucracy, but less so by corporations. Read the Peter Principle where an employee is promoted to his highest level of incompetence.

  * e.g.,  ... The minister responsible for the African "Ground Nut Scheme" boondoggle during the 1950s was given a promotion and a title. His new position required no real work, it was a classic case of fuck up move up. 

 [ "straight up hook up" ]

1: A truly legit and good deal.

  * e.g.,  ... Save your school supply coupons and use them tax free weekend. Some of your purchases will be for free. 

 [ "what up shut up" ]

1: to be muttered directly after a sweet comeback.

  * e.g.,  ... you: are you really gonna wear that? 

 [ "Wake-up Break-up" ]

1: The instantaneous "break-up" that occurs between two people the day after "getting together." This normally unspoken end occurs between people who have been "prom dating" or who have just engaged in a one night stand. This breakup is normally entirely mutual and amicable. Could also refer to a rather malicious end initiated by one person to a brief, one night romance.

  * e.g.,  ... Person 1: Hey, what happened with that Alice girl last night? Person 2: Eh, we had fun, but it ended with a wake-up break-up
