1: An action taken by one friend towards another after being provoked past that individual's threshold or tolerance for annoyance, disagreement, or disrespect towards him/her. An Italian often has a much lower than normal tolerance for aggravation, and will prompt a "time out" by saying "Are you f---ing serious right now bro'?" or "How you gonna come off like that to me?". He will then place the friend (sometimes ex-friend) on "time out" for an indefinite time period, not talking, calling, nor returning phone calls. In extreme cases, the melancholy time-out-ee will try anything to get back together with his/her friend. The exchange of online, often sentimental, greeting cards are a popular option.

  * e.g.,  ... Jason had had enough... he pulled up next to Manny in his Camaro exclaiming, "That's it bro'. You're on time out!"

1: a punishment used by white people when a child misbehaves, in which the child is temporarily forced to remain silent in a single spot. This method is usually ineffective, as opposed to the method used by black people who simply beat the child.

  * e.g.,  ... white man- "I HAVE IT. EVERYBODY GETS A TIME OUT!"

1: Punishment for saying or doing somethin really dumb. Involves kneeling down and touching forehead to kneecap.

1: A bogus, phoney baloney pseudo-punishment inflicted by soccer moms on their day care brats, after said day care brats have disobeyed for the 27th time.

  * e.g.,  ... After little Chutney disobeyed her soccer mom for the 27th time, Michner gave her a time out.

2: The time out has a beginning, but never an end. Before the soccer mom releases the day care brat, the day care brat releases itself.

1: A way of rescuing yourself from a failed joke (it must be said quickly before anyone else can time you out) or a way of letting someone know that what they'd just said didn't work and/or was not funny.

  * e.g.,  ... "I'll buy that for a dollar! (no one laughs because this was only funny during Robocop's theatrical release) Time out..."

1: Your asian friend gets too wasted/sauced and goes too hard/ too ham/rages out of control and does inappropriate dance moves involving handstands/bridges/grinding, annoys DJs such as Lil Cee and Beatbreaker, dances on tabletops/bars/amps/or any raised flat surface and ends the night trying to bike to the ocean going the wrong way

  * e.g.,  ... "Yunmi we are putting you in time out" "Yunmi go in time out" "You need to control your friend she's in time out"

1: A game played by youngsters to take claim of items that belong to someone else. You call "time out, time out" while touching something that belongs to someone else and that makes it yours for the taking. You can also call a preemptive "time out, time out" to protect your belongings. Note: food is most often the desired object in this game as other items are too expensive or valuable to be subject to such silly child's play.

  * e.g.,  ... Billy, Ray Ray, and Tommy are in the lunch line at their middle school. Pizza is being served that day and everyone loves pizza.

1: A Crappy Bar in Myrtle Beach, SC most known for its dismal shows, tired clientel, and sticky bathrooms.

  * e.g.,  ... Lets go to Time Out and see the glory hole

1: (1) When a child is punished for some sort of misbehavior and forced to spend time sitting by themselves (usually in quiet and without any sort of video games/TV/entertainment). (2) (Less commonly) Baltimore slang for cops/law enforcement. For example, drug dealers in Baltimore will shout out "time out" when they see a police car nearby so as to alert other dealers and customers of the police presence.

  * e.g.,  ... *Several drugs dealers are hanging out on a street corner selling scramble and ready (Baltimore slang for highly cut heroin and crack). They're about to make a sale to a customer, when suddenly, a police car pulls up to the nearest intersection Drug dealer 1: What'chyu say you need?
