1: Someone who prefers the old way of doing things.

  * e.g.,  ... My mother is such a purist, she has to make everything from scratch when she cooks.

2: Someone who adheres strictly to tradition.

1: The notion of playing Spy in TF2 while pretending that your Will Smith and not wearing any clothes.

  * e.g.,  ... I am so like Purister so suck my dick!

1: Someone who wants no change to their favorite video game series. They are the reason why some series become stagnant with no new ideas because fanboys whine about them, so when the new games come out, they can complain about how similar it is to predecessor and thrive on old games. They contribute absolutely nothing to the future of video games.

  * e.g.,  ... Purists will whine about any new change that comes their way. Whether it was multiplayer in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, third party characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, or any idea not mentioned by the creators for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, a purist will continue to whine that their series must stay the same until we all die.

2: While it's true that great games should never change their formula to the point that it alienates their fans, purists take it too far and seem to be against any good new ideas that may affect their series in one way or the other.

1: someone who expects everything to be exactly like the thing they like; doesn't believe in watered-down versions of such things

  * e.g.,  ... A country purist expects all country music to be honky-tonk and feeling sorry for yourself. A punk purist expects all punk to anarchist and government-hating. A metal purist expects all metal to be about fantasy things like dragons and knights, or about sex, drugs, and rock and roll and have instrumental solos. An R&B purist expects all R&B to have horns in the music. A rap/hip hop purist expects all rap/hip hop to have swearing and bragging. A jazz purist expects all jazz to be instrumental only. A pop purist expects all pop to be like the teen pop of the 1980s and 1990s. A folk/ singer/songwriter purist expects all folk/singer/songwriter albums to just the singer's voice and either an acoustic guitar, a piano, or all three of these.

1: A person who you'd get into an argument with on a forum.

  * e.g.,  ... Seth doesn't think Brian's synth music is good because he's a purist.

1: In sports: A fan blinded by nostalgia who is opposed to any and everything that would make a league better if it means there would be a noticeable change.

  * e.g.,  ... Purists will say:

1: In politics , a purist is a person who wants their candidates or social advocates to be pure and exact to their ideologies . They may get mad and criticize their own candidates/ social advocates when they go a bit off track. Their candidates / social advocates may even try to dialogue with the opposition , something that anger purists . This counts for all political ideologies.

  * e.g.,  ... "Dude, Bernie Sanders endorses Hillary. He totally betrayed us." "I don't like how this conservative governor treats so good the LGBT+ community" "Oh my god, Ru Paul is a transphobe, HE'S CANCELLED" "Girl calm down, stop being a purist. He'll apologize later"

1: Someone who listens to entire albums instead of just a few songs here and there. Person who follows albumism. Also albumer or albumist. Opposite of songer or songist.

  * e.g.,  ... Some album purist was aching me for buying a few songs off of iTunes. 

 [ "G1 Purist" ]

1: A transformer fan who hates anything that isn't the original series. G1 purists tend to be quite annoying and unreasonable.

  * e.g.,  ... those G1 Purists really hate the 2007 film because of the redesigns. 

 [ "Pokemon Purist" ]

1: (n.) A shot of alcohol containing equal parts of Blue Curacao, hot sauce and Bicardi 151, which must be followed by the drinker's yell, "It's super effective!"

  * e.g.,  ... Pokemon Purists all 'round! It's super effective!
