1: the act of selling or introducing oneself in a very (false) advertising manner. From the words "presentation" and "pretense".

  * e.g.,  ... Their mega-syllabic wordings and obstinate attitude are nothing but means of pretensation.

1: fake;false;words spoken or evidence shown thats not true.

  * e.g.,  ... "I went to church under pretense." 

 [ "pretense" ]

1: "pretense" - (v) when you pretend, and make others tense! - (n) a person who displays a false image in order to impress another, especially for personal gain.

  * e.g.,  ... "Margret is such a pretense-- like she's really met Justin Bieber! "Get that frickin' pretense outta here-- NOW!" 

 [ "pretension of hipsters" ]

1: Like an ostentation of peacocks, a murder of crows, or a parliament of owls, a pretension of hipsters is a simple and elegant term for a grouping of one of the more annoying self-referential and self-satisfied demographics in the history of demographics. Pretensions of hipsters can be found combing through old record stores in search of vinyl, hitting cool overpriced urban thrift stores, hanging for hours at local coffee shops, and, either performing in, or standing in line to listen to, a band of other hipsters with unfortunate facial hair, playing quasi-folky/blue grass inspired, unidentifiable something or other. There will be a banjo player. Although pretensions of hipsters set up residence in cool and edgy neighborhoods such as Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and San Francisco's Mission District, where they can be spotted unabashedly overstating their cultural significance, they will have most likely arrived, trust funds in tow, during the second or third wave of gentrification, well after the hard-core artists have done the difficult work of staking out a claim in a relatively inexpensive if shady neighborhood, with no coffee shops, just delis and bodegas, with burnt coffee to go.

  * e.g.,  ... "Look honey, a pretension of hipsters just arrived in our neighborhood." 

 [ "false pretense" ]

1: In law, it means making untrue statements for the purpose of obtaining money or property. It is a form of theft.

  * e.g.,  ... Disney should be charged with false pretense for making little boys and girls believe that life always has a happy ending, for making boys and girls believe that a bully will always get what they deserve, and for making little girls believe that there is a prince charming out there waiting to sweep them off their feet. This misrepresentation of life that Disney gives leads to their money gain.

2: But it could also be a false representation of fact or circumstance; misleading; lying.

1: The return volley of "Delusions of Adequacy", referring to elitist assumptions that any viable corpus of art, logic, or science generated from outside their circle is therefore inherently meritless.

  * e.g.,  ... Any brain trust that harbors such Illusions of Pretense about Tinker is doing him a favor not signing him. 

 [ "Pale Pretense" ]

1: When a Caucasian person rushes to deem as something racist on behalf of an African American, and by doing so actually perpetuates a racial stereotype. For example, a comical T-Shirt on sale by Amazon depicting a Tarot Card called “The Tower” (of Pancakes”) with a description of “Black Women’s T-Shirt,” isn’t great grammar, but when the shirt is black in color, it isn’t implying black women fatty up on pancakes or are Voodoo-practicing fortune tellers.

  * e.g.,  ... You’ve got it all wrong; it’s just poorly worded and your executing your pale pretense.
