1: A term usually seen on furry art sites such as DeviantART, Inkbunny, etc. An adoptable is a custom-made cartoon/furry character, specificly made to be sold to someone who is unoriginal and/or too lazy to make their own unique character. Adoptables are usually auctioned off and end up going for ridiculous amounts, even surpassing $200 at times.

  * e.g.,  ... Artist: Adoptable for auction! She is an adorable husky with a big love for cookies! Guy 1: I bid $10!

1: A character design made for sale by an artist. Adopts are usually sold online at websites like Amino, Deviant Art, Toyhou.se, etc. They can sell for any type of currency you can think of. Adopt Artists can have Terms of Service (T.O.S.) for the characters they sell. Common rules include Asking before reselling, No reselling for more than what you bought, No major design changes, etc.

  * e.g.,  ... I'm selling some adopts so I can save up for that membership I wanted on Amino.
